Law-Enforcement Based Victim Advocate(s)
Open opportunity for two advocate positions that will primarily assist adult victims of domestic and sexual violence and/or stalking. Positions will be employed by either The Victim Center or Harmony House but embedded with the Springfield Police Department’s detective unit. Positions will be responsible for providing direct services such as crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, information and referral, and follow-up. The goal of these positions is to help victims navigate the investigative process and connect them with community resources. Positions will work closely with collaborative partners.
Please note that all offers of employment are contingent upon an applicant passing a criminal background check and a consumer investigative report. Some applicants may also be required to pass a Child Abuse and Neglect background check, as reported by MO Dept. of Social Services or other child protective services organizations, as a condition of employment. Factors such as date of the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, what victims were involved, rehabilitation, and position applied for will be taken into account.
