In our “Keeping Children Safe,” video series you will find tips to help you talk to your children about personal safety, safe adults, and boundaries.
Believe, Support, Educate
- Talking to your children about personal safety will not make them fearful!
- Teach your child to come to you if something or someone is making them uncomfortable.
- For more information, download “What to do if your child discloses.”
Who are safe adults?
Parents are the first safe adults children should turn to. However, there are times a child will disclose abuse to an adult, and the adult will not be able to help that child. Prevention Education teaches children to tell an adult until they are believed.
Safe adults may include parents, close relatives, adults at places of worship, school, Girl Scouts, after-school programs, etc. Teach your child about safe adults they can go to for any reason!
